Langley Research Center Property Disposal Program The Property Disposal Office is responsible for disposing of property that is no longer required by your organization. Once the Property Custodian declares the property "excess", information regarding that property is input to DSPL - NASA's Property Disposal System. DSPL refers the property to the General Services Administration (GSA) for worldwide screening. GSA makes it available for transfer to other federal agencies through the GSAXcess Website. If excess property is not desired by other federal agencies, it is declared "surplus". It is then offered to the State Agencies for Surplus Property (SASP) for donation. Property donations provide nonfederal organizations a way to obtain surplus federal property through the SASP. This property can be obtained by a wide variety of nonfederal public agencies and private, nonprofit organizations and institutions, such as educational and health activities and programs for the elderly and homeless. If the property is determined not needed through the donation process, the property is made available to the public for sale. Property sales give individuals and businesses an opportunity to buy items the federal government no longer needs. GSA sells surplus property for Langley Research Center. GSA Auctions provides the general public with an Internet website to bid electronically on a wide variety of federal property. The sales auction site also accepts bids by proxy and provides instant feedback. The website provides item descriptions and pictures of items for sale. Click on LaRC Sales Listing to access the GSA Auctions website. If your organization is seeking property, submit a request through the NASA Langley Want List Request site or search NASA's inventory through N-PROP. Although the property may be slightly used, your organization only pays the shipping cost. If you have any questions regarding LaRC's Property Disposal Program or this website, please contact Theresa Elliott at 757 864-3570 (off-site) or extension 43570 (on-site). |
